Brief classification of fine ceramics and effect

Fine Ceramics, also known as high-performance ceramics, high-tech ceramic. Their use can be divided into two broad categories of engineering and functional ceramics. The former is mainly to take advantage of their high hardness, high melting point, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, also known as structural ceramics; latter mainly to take advantage of their physical characteristics such as light, sound, electrical, thermal, magnetic, also known as electronic ceramics. Can be divided into the chemical composition of the oxide and non-oxide class. The former includes various oxides and oxygen-containing salt; latter including nitrides, carbides, borides. The former type generally used for functional ceramics, engineering ceramics with the latter category. Some varieties used for manufacturing engine components, automotive parts, TV, hair dryer, fire alarms, high temperature extrusion mold. Can also be used in the manufacture of high temperature nozzle, suitable for the needs of national defense.
Cermet both ceramic material and the unique high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and other properties, and all having a metal toughness, impact resistance and ease of processing performance, it is widely used to produce the workpiece wear, corrosion, high temperature surface, furthercan be used as a special purpose. For example, the multilayer porous sintered titanium carbide with a high temperature, due to its surface in the high temperature sintering process forming a titanium oxide film, its melting point temperature of the high temperature of up to 3000 degrees Celsius, and therefore can be used as a high temperature resistant materials, and used to produce the filter and the light catalytic materials; polymer cermet applications involving ships, marine engineering, petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, machinery, electric power, water, mining, aerospace, and military equipment and other fields.
